Photographer's Note

This is one of the five stucco masks that feature atop the pyramid; one on the east, two north, two west. I judged that this one shows the least damage to the nose; and I did take photographs of all five. Underneath the protective roofing, frankly, the lighting is not great. It is not evident who is represented by the mask. It may be, and I emphasize "may", K'inich Ahau, the Sun God. He it is who disappears into the Underworld at nightfall, and is born anew at dawn. But 5 examples? Anyhow, what is, is.
