Photographer's Note

The cartouche from yesterday's upload fits to the immediate left of this photograph. While I do not know the specific details of the content of this stucco panel, I would observe that Maya artists were more than capable of portraying people and animals. Other favourite subjects included gods and planetary components. I would assume that what we are seeing here falls into the latter category.

On a technical note, when I started to edit this photograph I wanted to remove the cross-hatching from the wire fencing. After I had done so, I decided that too much of the detail had been removed at the same time. So you see the fence, along with the subject.
