Photographer's Note
This picture met all aspects of the definition of a serendipitous aka decisive moment. We were wandering around the day after Christmas in a heavy tourist area in the central plaza of Taquepaque, near Guadalajara, Mexico. The plaza was packed with people. A large crowd was bunched up shooting pictures of the old church. I wandered around them and to the back side of this statue of mariachis. I was amazed to see this cloud pattern that went straight up like a rocket launch. It took some slight repositioning to get the statue silhouetted and the clouds backlit. I was no more than 10 feet away from the crowds who kept looking straight ahead and not up, down or around.
