Photographer's Note

the pulp & paper mill at Harmac, Vancouver Island, relies on a steady flow of fresh water for its processes. The water is taken out of the Nanaimo River and transported via these old wooden pipes held together with metal strappings.
As kids we would walk along them, perfecting our balance and eating blackberries from the bushes that grew alongside the pipeline in the summer.
