Photographer's Note
Returning from the Columbia Icefield I stopped on the side of the highway along "Sunwapta Pass" (thanks for the name Brad) to capture this awe inspiring range.
For more images from my recent trip back to Canada, they're available on my travelogue.
I hope you like the shot,
- Dan

Hi Dan
A superb alpine view of the Canadian Rockies. The road adds good lead in lines & perspective. Tfs!

Well Daniel its nice to see a wide sweeping viewpoint of these Ice fields. It almost seems like one can see a rhythm on the mountain slope. The photo has a sweeping balance in the clouds, the mountain range and in a trees on both sides. Very well done Dan!

Hey Dan,
As Paul said "its nice to see a wide sweeping viewpoint"- that's how it presents us. The slightly lowered viewpoint leads the eye to the same level as the road upward way up to those amazing mountains. Those surrounding trees makes the best use adding to the frame - Well done!
Cheers!

Hey Dan,
What I like about your stuff is that it is unpretentious. It is hard to tell if you are trying to be populist or a rennaisance man (photography wise) or just shoot what you like to shoot. Never know whether we will get sports, portrait, abstract still life or landscape from you. I'm starting to think that's pretty admirable.
This particular shot is worthy of a wall somewhere. Great Alpine scenery with the leading line of the rode taking the eye in. Amazing level of detail is visible here. I'll catch up on other stuf soon. Saw your most recent spread in photovideoi...congrats

Hello Dan
Awe inspiring landscape as you say & an awe inspiring shot to me. The use of the road as a perspective is perfect, as it cuts across the frame in a diagonal creating the infinite depth. The car also helps in this regard IMO. What I like are the majestic mountain ranges, rugged with the strata partly covered with ice, which shows the layers formed by shear. Beautiful contrast with the blue sky. I might have wanted a bit contrast boost, but that's my personal opinion. Very good shot!
With Regards

Better view of Cirrus Mountain here, but you're already quite far from the Sunwapta Pass. Nice sky, did you use a polarizer together with the ND grad filter? You should have dropped me a line, we could have met for a beer in Banff.

Great shot Dan! I've seen this place a few times but never got a good shot of it because I couldn't find a nice foreground, but you solved the problem by using the highway. I like the feel of this, which gives a sense of the size and sweeping grandeur of the Rockies. Great work!
