Photographer's Note
Lest folks should think that all we have here in Nova Scotia is fabulous colours in sunrises and sunsets, intersperced with a wee bit of grey..., well here is a view of what it looks like when we have horizontal rain!
This shot was taken - on purpose - thru a large [glass] window. I like the natural contortions that arise from the water that is streaming down the glass.
The island in the "mist" is Big Island in Sambro Harbour.
PS This is the first week of January, we are supposed to have SNOW!!! All we can do now is water-skie!

I have often used your technique of shooting photos through the raindrops, and find it gives a different perspective to the most mundane of subjects. In this case, it has given an interesting twist to a downpour of rain, and the view of a very wet and dismal day.
I like the way you have presented this shot....straight into the abyss of rain!!
Good job!
Keep up the creative touch!!

Stunning image, Jay! I love the view through the window.
I haven't experienced a winter rain there, but the summer thunder storms are pretty memorable: I remember waking up with the tent floor floating on water -- took three days to dry out the sleeping bags!
Super composition, great colours and details

Hi Jay. I love this composition of the hut nested near the water. It has a lot of character. In Wellington, capital of New Zealand where i lived for 4 years we also had a lot of horizontal rain, so it rang a bell. Enjoy your series very much. Rgds Murray.

Hello Jay and thanks for your little workshop on my "peaceful moments" photo. I should be more adventurous.
Oh I know how it can be in Nova Scotia, when the fog horn goes and my NS friend (David) constantly says (after some beers of course) "fog off" (this is a saying we have created and does not go off our minds any more). Your photo reminded me of this and the fun we had. Rain and fog can be fun too ... nice idea of photographing through a large glass ... see I should try out things more.
Gruesse aus Zuerich, Barbara, Baerbel ... whatever suits your mood (do you have any Swiss connections or so, by any chance?)
