Photographer's Note

Edmonton, Alberta is a bit of an ugly city. Especially now, when the snow is just gone, and the trees are still bare. The grass is brown, the roads are paved with sand and salt. Only when you narrow your eye can you see the city for what it really is. A small town that never really grew up. Reaching for the future. Still full of hope and promise.

Foreground darkened and cropped. These cranes live just south of me and I hope to study them some more. When the wind blows, they line up like they are all looking at something on the distant horizon.
