Photographer's Note

A nice crisp day, only -19°C/0°F or thereabouts. The Rocky Mountains are spectacular, and winter adds a whole new element to the experience. The water was actually blue - mainly because it was at least partly frozen I think, to be honest I was surprised that there was any water flowing at all :)

The name Yoho comes from the native Cree word for "Awe", and as you can see this National Park is aptly named!

The Burgess Shale deposits within the National Park are responsible for Yoho's designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site. They're very rich in marine animal fossils, most of which date back almost 515 million years.
