Photographer's Note
Emerald Lake is enclosed by mountains of the President Range, as well as Mount Burgess and Wapta Mountain.
Its name come from its remarkable colour, caused by fine particles of glacial sediment, also referred to as rock flour, suspended in the water.
The cloud hampered by the mountain was a blessing, bringing an aura of mystery to the whole landscape.

Bravo

Hi Andre!
Breathtaking landscape, I like the over all atmosphere of the photo, its melancholic feel and mysterious ambiance. The reflections are superb, exposure is very well handled, I liked how the middle ground is superbly captured with crystal clear details. Indeed, the cloud was a bonus, you were very lucky! Excellent image! Well captured. Thanks for sharing this one.
Have a great day,

Yves.

Hello Andre,
This is top quality - sharp, well managed light and a great composition. The effect of the lower cloud across the mountain and its reflection make this an above average landscape picture. TFS.

Hello Andre - The colour management is what really attracts me to your shot; it is beautifully saturated and contrasted without looking at all "overcooked". Focus is spot-on too. The composition is super with attractive diagonals created by the reflections. best regards Rosemary

Salut cher Andre
As you say, there is a real air of mystery about this scene, thanks in part to the cloud of course, but also to the dynamic sky and magical colours. I have seen these glacial colours in New zealand, they really are spectacular. Your photo is of course, stupendous. The quality and post-processing are at the top of the game, that us mere mortals can only admire and aspire to. Thanks for sharing and for all the technical information which is always something to learn from.
Bonne amities

Superbe !

Hi Andre,
Beautioful lake in the mountains, superb reflections. In this cloudy day it doesn't look as Emerald but I like the mysterious mood.

Hello Andre, the dark brooding atmosphere created by your choice of exposure and time of day is very good indeed, the lights along the waters edge bring a touch of drama. The swirling cloud is a big plus.

Hi Andre,
This is one of the Park I skept when I was in Canada a few years ago, so it is great to see. It serves as an inpiration for me and a reason to go back. The atmosphere is very special with that low hanging clouds and grey sky, the low light would have been problematic for an average photographer, but with a decent equipment and in the hang of a right person, the result is magical. Technically perfect as well as processing. the color is sumptuous, the dark area is not in total blackness, just rich indigo ink tone. The reflection in darker tone make the real landscape pop even more so than without. The bright spot in the cloud is a point of attention that draw my vision in. The horizon in divided a bit in the center splitting the image in 1/2 but work perfectly here for a symetrical composition. Good night my friend your one of the few that is close to my time zone.

Daniel.

Good golly! I hadn't seen this one yet, but this is fantastic. Looks like the weather didn't really cooperate, but you got really lucky with that bit of cloud around Mt. Burgess. Just stunning.

Ciao dear Andre,
wonderful colors! You have captured a really fantastic landscape, with a marvelous reflex enriched by the cloud that it winds the mountain and by the pleasantly dramatic sky. The colors are well saturated and the sharpness is perfect. Sincere congratulations!

Hi Andre! I had a holiday in the Canadian Rockies a couple of years ago. Though I never saw this particular view, it does bring back memories. You've captured some wonderful colours in this composition, enhanced by the cloud as you say. I'm curious about the exposure details though - 15s seems very long, even at f/18. Anyway, great shot. TFS, Colin.
