Photographer's Note
A nice crisp day, only -19°C/0°F or thereabouts. The Rocky Mountains are spectacular, and winter adds a whole new element to the experience. The water was actually blue - mainly because it was at least partly frozen I think, to be honest I was surprised that there was any water flowing at all :)
The name Yoho comes from the native Cree word for "Awe", and as you can see this National Park is aptly named!
The Burgess Shale deposits within the National Park are responsible for Yoho's designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site. They're very rich in marine animal fossils, most of which date back almost 515 million years.
The official Parks Canada site for Yoho can be found here.
P.S. You can now buy prints of this image here!

What a lovely shot...
I love the way the whole shot is organized to point towards the mountain... the contrast is good.
in all the picture is a bit too dark for a snow / daylight. but I bet you know your way around these things...
I love the composition and the result.
excellent job, as always

Fantastic. Trees make a great natural frame. I would have use a longer exposure so the water look softer.

What a beautiful shot, I love the way the stream leads toward the mountain carving it's way between the trees. It would make a wonderful Christmas Card.

Wow, once again Adrian a stunning shot, nature's composition helped out here , with limited colours its all about contrast which is very good , more blue to the sky would be nice to see but expect you had no time to dawdle around with so much else to see :-) I need to go there !!!
well done

Spectacular scenery, the sharp picture does well represent the crisp temperature you were in whereas the soft clouds temper this feeling.
The stream guiding our eyes to the far end of the wilderness gives a kind of third dimension to this shot. I particularly like the colors, almost only blue, white and black with very neat and well balanced contrasts. Wonderful place and shot.
PS. I think I might be born on the wrong side of the country.

the picture is brilliant! infact all u'r work is brilliant why aren't u posting pictures more often!!
after having most of u'r pics in my favourites ..I decided to add a link straight to u'r page.

Lovely photo. Winding water stream, rocks and tree adds textures. You forgot your 8x ND filter at home Andrian?

Very nice shot. I really like the way you handled the water. I'm so tired of all those blurry water shots.
I'd suggest that you try pulling more detail out of the trees, especially the ones on the left of the image. (I ran the 'dodge' tool over them, there's more there.)
Also, try burning in the lightest area of snow on the left, it's a bit blank.

Well Adrian its all been said, only thing left is to sit back and enjoy the picture. I spent some time in Calagary Alberta, and yes the rockies are stunning. A first class picture.

Excellent crisp scan and focus as always. I like how the snow/sky are not blown out. The snow drifts on the boulders leads the eyes towards the center of the photo and beyond very nicely.

Great colors and framing. The symmetry is pleasingly offset by the variation in trees, sky and water.

Excellent use of the characteristic of a wide angle lens Adrian. Technically perfectly executed and your result is a very attractive, pleasant picture that combines the calmness of the landscape scenery with the motion and power of fast streaming water. My 6 out of 5 :)

Such a rough landscape! Even Rambo would feel scary!
It's a wonderful scenery and a great image. Composition, framing, colours, everything is there to make a perfect picture of it. Congratulations, you are the Master... ;-)

Adrian- just saw this for the first time. Ya know, everything works, and well. You included everything that they try so hard to convey on Christmas Cards, and this is better. I love this country- and the water is beautiful. Excellent work. (I see the Christmas Card thing struck someone else's fancy also)

The line of the torrent goes exactly on the center of the photo. The author has tried it. Fabulous scene and imagine. You will have to put the pic in collection on your Internet site.

Very good composition, a bit soft but it's ok. I would like to do something to this one in a workshop, so you'll see if you like it or not...
I like this one!

I have taken (or at least attempted to) shots at minus 20 at below, and the results better be good because it isn't as easy as it seems.
Firstly you can't feel your fingers after a minute or two, you have to be very carefull not to fog up your lenses and not to land on your behind because everything is iced. So just for that Adrian I am giving you 4 points.
I wonder how you took this image, looks like you must have stepped over this icy stream, which by itself must have been an accomplishment. The image itself is chilly to the bone, keeping it blue all the way across accentuates the crispy cold, the composition is very good, my eyes follow the stream into the mountain in between the trees.
Very well done again.

Awesome shot Adrian! I love it!
Shots like this make me home sick! Hahaha
Theres not much I can say about a shot that's pretty much flawless.... The one thing that really makes this shot is the composition. Glad you didn't slip off those snowy rocks!
Well done!

Hi,
I've been to this park but in the summer time, when I was there I thought to myself that during the winter it would be a totally different world. From your shot I think I was right. Great shot with good compostion and great light. I really like the blue cilour of the water, really adds to the photo.

I'm glad that you made the effort in -19 degree weather to take this photo!
It is a fantastic shot and you have a wonderful collection of photos.
My only comment is about the colour of the water. The light blue colour is because this runoff is sourced from glaciers. Glacier derived water often has a high content of 'rock flour' (powdered up rocks from the underside of a glacier) which causes the blue-green colour of glacier fed lakes and streams.
And it definetly creates an excellent focus for this composition!
Keep up the good work - and thanks for your comment on my photo,
Mel

Magnifique photo qui nous raffraichit Adrian,
avec en plus une perspecrtive très efficace, alliée à un format vertical, cela donne beaucoup de porfondeur.
Amicalement.

This is a really beautiful landscape photograph. I am sure it is not easy to find this point of view especially in the snowy session. Congratulations.
