We're downtown now, just a couple blocks past the trainstation, in the beginning of Chinatown, and on the fringes of Vancouver's grungiest area.

This is the Venus. Known as a de facto whore-house. In the local paper a couple weeks back there was an expose about this place. Apparently, the entire place is an open brothel at night. There are people having sex just about anywhere, and everyone watches. Not a good scene.

Alex, it is not my favourite. I assume it is just to let us know that such whore houses still exist.
This is the interest.

There's nothing more romantic than a couple sitting down to enjoy an XXX film together...

I personally find having these places exist in Melbourne irksome but they cannot be ignored (though just about all the tourists ignore them-- it's no Amsterdam).

The windows are either painted out with big 'X's everywhere or faded pictures of manufactured porn film stars promising lackluster dreams; you can't help but notice the people who do go in these places simply because of all the neon lights...

I've been tempted to capture someone going in but it's not worth it and wouldn't achieve anything more than this picture already does.

Hmm - from the subject matter I would somehow expect something more dramatic and hard, I actually quite fast forget about the brothel matter and start to look at the photos as a graphical composition of letteres and colours with a run-down tinge. And as such it is quite good, the lens distortion work really well here.
