The Vancouver Rowing Club clubhouse, on Coal Harbour. Vancouver is a very sporty city, with a much higher than average percentage of people engaged in sports. One popular sport is rowing, and this shows the clubhouse of the Vancouver Rowing Club in the pre dawn light. I was hoping that there would be some rowers out already (since they are famous for starting very early in the day) but everyone was sleeping in on the day I was there. It's still a beautiful scene, with the water totally still and giving a very good reflection. In the background you can see some of the apartment buildings of the city, and off to the right is Stanley Park.

It must've been pretty cold early in the morning, Alvin?
Amazing number of details in this low-light shot and
what I really like here is colour contrast between the
pinkish-bluish and yellows coming out of the clubhouse.
That yellow light really helps convey the feeling of
still being night. On the other hand, I keep wondering
if the light's coming from in the house, or is this
just a reflection of the rising sun on the horizon, as
a glimpse of the same yellow we can see further left,
next to the left margine of the frame, reflexing off of
one of them highrises behind...
Very powerful colouring and the tree far right echoing
masts on the far left.

The colours are amazing....
Even some of the distraction by the structures on the far left is obliterated with the intensity of the colour & tonality.

Hi Alvin,
I have been waiting for new pictures that you do not seem to post every day. Pink and black are always matching well together and this one is certainly ne exception. But the addition of the golden windows make the picture ROYAL.

He he another barbie hour, it must be something distinctively canadian that you on the west balance with Andre on the east, some day you should meet for a barbie hour shoot in Manitoba ;-)
Those colors here add the the peaceful evenign feeling, still many details to be seen and the lights in the rowing club house attract the eye.

Alvin,
looking through your collection I get the impression that wherever you place your feet you get the right light. That can be the case that you're always lucky, but I think it has much more to do with perseverance. I guess you go to every place several times until you get the right light and only than you shoot and post. Quite impressive!
