Photographer's Note
After a much needed break from TE, i'm back and feeling refreshed.
And what better way to do that than a Holiday Seasonal photo from Vancouver. This is the Christmas Market in the downtown core. You may or may not recognize some of the subjects.
To the far right, the red and green subject is our Couldron, from the Winter Olympics we held in Vancouver a few years back, its now a staple in our community.
I used a long shutter speed here, about 5 seconds, so the people are blurred as they're moving around. And I got a much higher POV than everyone else, i climbed the stairs to the rooftop, i was the only one up here.
In the bg, that large building is the Convention Centre, its located beside the Coloured Sails which I have posted several times. In the far bg, those city lights you see twinkling is the city of North Vancouver, and the North Shore mountains.
I liked the effect of the melting snow on my camera lens, so i decided to go with it and NOT photoshop them out - I think it adds to the festive motif.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all TE members!

Hello Craig,
Welcome back after your unexpected sudden break. It's good to know you feel okay. This is so different from the Irish ruins, so much light and colors, diagonals and angles and probably quite a lot of action among the people who hardly even resemble ghosts. I didn't even think of the melting snow until you pointed it out, but it's quite a nice effect.
I wish you a good end of the year and a happier next year.

Hi Craig,
The subject is well framed. Using a tripod and a slow shutter speed is showing the details of the Vancouver Christmas market. It also has a special effect on the colours. Have a nice day.

Hi Craig
Happy Christmas! Really cool joyful scene from the Christmas markets and a great fun color combination too. Call me captain consumerism but the red and green combo now reminds me of the limited edition festive m and ms haha. I really like how you managed to get the high view down on the market for a great all encompassing view
Best of the season to you!
Cheers
Noel

Hello Craig,
Welcome back. :-) It's nice to see the holiday market, especially from your higher POV looking down on everything. The Couldron looks different close-up, the construction is very futuristic. There are lots of different styles in this one photo: modern architecture, a sci-fi Couldron, and the market stalls that look a bit like a holiday shanty town. :-)

Hello Craig,
What a great view of the Christmas market from this great vantage point. You captured the illuminations so well and they make a beautiful golden view. The lights look like wonderful golden stars too and some of the people are only seen as a vague blur. Really well done!

Hello Craig,
welcome back! It's great to have a panoramic view of this fascinating part of your city at this special time of the year. I like all the effects and colours of the light, the way our glance glides and bounces around the frame, the mix of sharp details and abstract impressions. The intensity and colour of the warm lights are superb. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania

Ciao Craig
Carlo

Different concept, but also very beautiful image. This time people are the dynamic element and the lights the static one.
Too late to wish you a Merry Christmas so I hope you had a good one and wish you Happy New Year 2017!
