Something a little different today.
Driving down the Thompson River valley we looked across the other side of the valley and saw where there had been a fairly large landslide. These trees had some how survived and provided an unusual sight on the mountain side as the afternoon shadows started to lengthen.

Nature overcame the landslide, and you show this from an attractive perspective, ian.
Good sense of the height upon the sheer slope.
Good afternoon, in A - morning here,

Hello Ian,
This is very good. I get an image of the great surprise the first astronauts must have had when they arrived at the moon and found trees. It's a graphically attractive minimalistic photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
You have captured well the traces of the landslide. The point of view is showing the details of the remaining trees. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian
As avalanche survivors, these firs proudly brave the natural disaster and compose a well-taught-of scenery, due to the great mastery in the matter of pleasing layout within the frame.
Cheers

Hello Ian,
I had the impression that this photo was an aerial view.
Either you found yourself in the top of a tree.
Some trees have remained as if nothing had happened.
I suppose after the landslide a lot of rocks cover a more fertile slope. Otherwise, it doesn't seem like such a fertile soil to grow anything.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ian,
A nice minimalist shot of the resilient and tenacious trees in the barren landslide zone wiped almost clean by some past winter avalanche. Tfs!

Hello Ian,
It is difficult to underestimate the dangers that could occur on very steep slopes. Probably the trees helped in controlling the landslip, though maybe, not enough to make a huge difference.
You photograph clearly reveals the unstable surfaces and the ridges, perhaps created by later rainfall.
I just love how the tree shadows add to the impact of the sparse trees.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Ian,
very interesting title which immediately makes us to think about what may have been happening there before. The trees certainly appear to be growing on a steep hill.
Very original composition, well spotted,

ian
yes, they are survivors and who know if one of them will be alive in the next spring. at same time, being isolated in the rocks they can't be reached by the fire.. everything has a positive point..
beautiful photo.
take care
jorge
