Photographer's Note
Please open both photos in new tabs.
I'm not sure exactly where this photo was taken - just somewhere along the Thompson River whilst driving on the South Yellowhead Hwy so I've just made it the same location as my previous one. You'll notice that the area to the left (east) of the river had not long before been ravaged by fire.
For most of the drive through the Thompson River Valley the railway is nearby, sometimes below as in the is photo or sometimes on the opposite side of the river as in the WS. We didn't spot one of the famous tour trains that goes along the valley but we did see one long goods train.

Hi Ian
A pity about the destructive forest fire a left. Let's hope it's well on its way to regeneration and recovery. The yellow fg shrubs add a nice warm cold colour contrast with the turquoise water an blue grey sky and hills on the horizon. Tfs!

Hello Ian,
I could have fancied the WS as a main post too, for the warm, strong colours and the long train. But this is also very good, with an amazing range of mild colours and a spectacular view.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Ian
its a fine layered scene. you've got V or W shaped lines intersecting into the bg, so it creates an obvious sense of depth. cool to see the tracks there too, as it helps to guide us. lovely view, how can we not like it right? cheers

I have only been to Canada once to Ottawa on business, I had hoped to visit the rockies but to no avail, therefore I am enjoying your series very much.
This beautiful scenery must make a lovely train trip.
A great array of colours here and fien details in the mountains and sky.

Hello Ian,
Gosh, this is beautiful scenery!
You must have been in your element, experiencing this!
You have used the f/g features very effectively to turn this beautiful scenery into an excellent, photographic composition.
The river becomes our visual guide throughout!
My warm regards,

Hi Ian,
The length of the river is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the trees and of the mountains. The light is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian,
A beautiful view along the river, which is well placed in the middle of the photo and which clearly indicated the border between the burnt area and the still green trees at right.

Hi Ian,
the colors of the scenery made me think of Yellowstone indeed and I see they names it in a similar way.
Stunning landscape photo. The river of course introduces a beautiful green color while the vegetation indicates the autumn. The cloudy sky so attractive.
Excellent work,

Hello Ian, both shots worthy of being a main post.
This high point of view served you well, as we see the river and the railway snaking through the landscape.
A pity about the fire ravaging the trees, we just have to imagine how it would appear covered in green.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Ian,
Yes this region is just fantastic. River runs on a canyon, nature is wild. And railways run on both sides of the river, although on this point you see only one. Good framing with autumn trees on the bottom edge.

Hi Ian
Lovely scenery with the river provides a direct route into the landscape. Touch of autumnal colour and contrast to turquoise water is terrific! Excellent

a pity the fire destroyed the other edge of the river. but even with no trees it is an amazing place with these waters of intense blue.
take care
