Photographer's Note
These beatiful fish have traveled 300 miles from the Pacific, to this spot in the Shushwap River, to lay their eggs. Their beauty is short lived, as they detriorate physically almost before one's eyes over a periof of only a few weeks, until only their carcasses remain. But they were at their peak of beauty, with not a care in the world, when I took this picture on a warm, clear autumn day,

Hi John, I once saw a documentary about these salmons and their predators (bears), and I was amazed by the power of these animals, (They get redder and redder, BTW), but in this stage they already seem to be ill and dying. And the circle of life is round again. Beautiful colors, BTW, and the pattern that is created by the light and water is nice.
