Photographer's Note

Lake Chilliwack in the cascade Mountains of southern British Columbia. This photo was taken from the Flora Lake track, which rises steeply from near the lake shore to give some great views of the lake from about 1000 metres above it. The country is unreasonably steep around here as you can see. The far end of the lake is on the Canada-USA border.

I underexposed the photo so as not to burn out the clouds. Perhaps I went too far with the underexposure, as the foreground is very black, but I think it helps convey the gloomy atmosphere that prevailed at the time, with the clouds hovering around the ridge tops.

Scanned from a slide.
