Photographer's Note

You are looking at the east face of Howse Peak - a less obstructed view, near the Icefields Parkway. There is still a lot of snow marking its features in May. I stood quietly, reflecting on the deaths of the three climbers killed by avalanche Tuesday, April 16, 2019 - Holy Week. The trio included an American- Jess Rosskelly, age 36 - and two Austrians - David Lama, age 25 and Hansjörg Auer, age 35. They were killed on the M16 route. These were experienced young men. Jess had climbed to the summit of Mt. Everest at the age of 20. And, they all had to die so young!

I thought of the words from Neil Sedaka's song, reinvented, "No more mountains to climb, and no more rivers to cross!" May they be blessed.
