Photographer's Note

"Sunwapta" is the Stoney Indian name for "Turbulent River". Nevertheless, its main source of water is from the Athabasca Glacier. This photograph depicts the Upper Falls, and yes, there is a Lower Falls. The Upper Falls are 18.5 metres in height. Geo location is N, and W, with elevation at 1,375 metres or 4,591 feet. This approximates a distance 50 kilometres southeast of Jasper Town on Highway 93, and we are still in the Jasper National Park. The background mountain, snow-topped, is the Maligne Range.

We did not spend much time at this site as my fellow passengers were anxious to return to Canmore. The latter objective was achieved mid-Sunday afternoon.
