Photographer's Note

I took this photo in Fish Creek Park, Calgary, while I was bike-riding with my family and some friends.
It was a very interesting day in general but particularly interesting for photographers.As dark as that cloud looked in the end there was nothing dangerous, at least in that area.The air suddenly cooled off,though.
My folks just stopped and they were hard to convince to go any further:)
This is just the raw file exported for web straight from Adobe Lightroom 2.

Nelu,
The bike path leads the eye through the shot giving the shot a sense of direction. The line of clouds creates a mood for the shot. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

What's nice here is that - despite your excellent explanation - the photo actually needs no explanation at all, it's all perfectly plain & understandable - beyond words.

Hi Nelu,
Nice moment, I can hear the lead bike rider saying "whoops, I think it's time to turn around".
Good POV and composition, the bike path is perfectly positioned in frame. Why am I not surprised.

It's a very nice picture with a upcoming storm, I guess. There must be some wind, as the grass shows. The bicycle road leads the viewr to the horizon boosting DOF. The contrasts between the blue and the dark clouds adds drama to the picture. Colors are vibrant, sharpness is fine and the framing is perfect. Well done.

Good colors. I specifically like how the left side is full of grass, flowers, and clouds, while on the right side we have the bikers, apparently admiring all this 'fullness'. I also like how the red shirts of the bikers contrast with the other soft colors. Congratulations and best regards from Brazil!

Hi Nelu, another one for my Clouds Collection. When I saw this the song by Van Morrison "On The Bright Side of The Road" kept playing in my head. I hope you and your family managed to stay on that bright side. The other side looks extremly ominous and I don't blame them for wanting to avoid that downpour. The sky is great. I love that on one half it is absolutely cloudless and the other half has this dangerously looking cloud. Regards, Yvonne
