Photographer's Note

I'm always on the lookout for places that don't frequently get photographed. In the Canadian Rockies, you've got to get pretty remote for that. This unnamed tarn is hardly unvisited, but fortunately for me, most people that see it have their focus on Cirque Peak instead. So it's not something most people will have seen a picture of.

My two hiking companions and I had just returned from the summit of Cirque Peak, being the 3rd, 4th, and 5th people to summit that day. (Given that there were at least 20-30 people in various stages on the slopes when we came down, we were hardly the last). As I got near the bottom of Cirque Peak's shoulder, I happened upon this view over the tarn towards Watermelon Peak. It was the view I'd been looking for. A couple of pictures later, I was doing some minor scrambling down to the tarn, making a quick descent back to Helen Lake, then joining the line of tourists down to the trailhead from Helen Lake.

This area was lovely, vast, and appeared easy to explore. I'll be back in a future hiking season.
