Photographer's Note

While scrambling along the Bow River, I came across on this osprey nesting on the other side.

Actually, this is my consolation picture: 5 minutes before this shot, my camera batteries died (like me, they're not big on the cold!) right when I saw this beautiful snowy osprey circling its nest. I quickly fumblingly changed the batteries and did manage to get a great shot of it landing. However the backdrop was a pure white cloud. After walking another 100 feet, the clouds opened up to reveal Mt. Norquay. It would have been an incredible shot to have it landing in front of the mountain. Oh well- I'll be happy with my 2 photos, and the memories of Banff, which is an absolutely stunning and magical location- so go there now!
