Photographer's Note

Well, this shot comes under the category, should I or should I not post… I like this image because I took it in Old Quebec surrounded by concrete, and this activity is always associated with nature. It was hard for me to get the shot, because people where intimidated by the camera (or me…) and since I cant put a tele lenses on my Finepix, I had to get up close. So I took a shot of somebody from the back.

For those who do not know what this woman is doing, she is eating some maple wax (not my translation, it comes from my Cassell’s French/English dictionary – I would be more tempted to say maple candy). They boil the candy-syrup and then they pour it on snow. As it gets cold, it hardens a bit and then you pick it up with a stick. It’s very sweet, to much for my taste, but it is very popular with kids and tourists.
