Photographer's Note

Ice hockey is almost like a religion here. Most people I know have played it at least once. I think that every city in Quebec, no matter how small has a hockey rink. When I work in the northern part of our province, I visited very small towns, less then 300 citizens, that had them.

Now that spring is almost upon us, the temperature is rising and people are playing outside more and more. When you have to live trough a rough Quebec's winter with deep freeze temps, you really appreciate the spring when it comes. Many people like feel like they are re-born.

These kind of rinks are maintained by municipal governments most of the time. They are free and anybody can join in the fun. You can even see some people play without skates, but they are usually not as fast as the others...
