Photographer's Note
Some of you might already know by now that I like music. Many of my title are actually song titles and some of you have already seen of my pic Funambulists. So what link to music do we do here...
yep, very weak link. It's just that when I saw this scene, I immediatly thought of a cover from Pink Floyd: Animals. For me this album is the best of this band...of course it's arguable. So for you who know this album, I did a little workhop that might remind you even more this album. Also in the workshop, same place but at night and in a different angle, quite interesting too!!:D
So, no real intent today. But if some of you will dig his vynil disc, CD, mp3 of animal, well I'll know I'll have made someone happy today:D
Of course we could discuss of all the pollution, overconsumption, international politics...but let's just listen to the music for now...
Marc
PS:yes the "noise" is on purpose, I tried to recreate the mood of the album cover(Animals from Pink Floyd).

Salut Marc.
J'aime bien!

Marc,
I really don't understand the note but the photo is superb, it really shows industrial polution happening, the colors are such to grab you and make you look and the light side - dark side add motion to the frame, like the wind moving the soot or smoke.

Hi Marc,
I rather prefer Atom heart Mother, but as you said it is arguable:) I reccomend you this photo: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/United_Kingdom/photo91278.htm
The picture is liitle dark, but it could be the dark side of the... industry:)
Well seen and well done,

Salut Marc,

Animals? It's really very like the album cover, you're right. But speaking about best album of Pink Floyd, how about Wish You Were Here? Great photo, TFS!

Hey Marc!...I'm not the biggest fan or most informed person about Pink Floyd but I absolutely get it!... Your picture is most unusual and actually surprising since I just learned yesterday the we have the third most polluted spot on the planet here in Dominican Republic...the first one being Chernobyl.I really like your picture, it definitely conveys a strong message.

Bonjour Marc,

Hello, Marc--
Nice work here, i feel like you placed the smokestacks well, allowing space on the right for the smoke to move into, but keeping them close enough to the middle to m ake them feel very planted in the composition... Static structures, static placement.
Thanks!

Salut Marc,
Jean-Yves

Hi Marc,
A great shot. I like the dark saturated red of the building and the billowing clouds of smoke really bring the point of pollution accross. Nicely composed and well seen.

Salut Marc

Hey Marc,
A funnel storm of pigs! You interpreted the image very well relating it to Pink Floyd's album 'Animals'. Saw the workshop and it seems like it continues to explode across the sky, day and night...Very compelling photo! Music and photography makes sense ;)
Jom
As you mentioned lets listen to the music for now...
"The album appears to be heavily inspired by George Orwell's Animal Farm as, through the central three songs, Roger Waters uses three animals as anthropomorphic metaphors for human behavior: dogs, PIGS, or sheep. Dogs are used to represent the megalomaniac businessmen who think they are in control but are finished by being dragged down by "the weight [they] used to need to throw around". PIGS refers to and is an attack upon those who are really/would be in control, politicians and opinion leaders, with direct references to Mary Whitehouse, who at the time was leading a campaign to "clean up TV". Those who do not fall into either of these two categories are sheep, who follow blindly, without any self-thought – though hope is perhaps provided when they rebel and at least kill one of the dogs persecuting them." - wikipedia
Have a great weekend!
