Photographer's Note
Spring planting always has its trouble spots where the winter's snow lingers on longer than in the open fields. This is an area along the edge of a forest where the field dips down a slope. In the winter, the storms blow high drifts of snow into this corner which means a much longer thaw period.
In an effort to speed up the process, I run the harrow through the snow to bring up some dark earth in the mix.Since anything dark absorbs the sun's heat the snow will melt faster than if left undisturbed. The white snow without the dirt simply relects the sun's heat.
We are having some rain today which will also speed up the process. And the rain also gives me a little rest from planting :-)
You can see that the harrow discs have lost all of the rust which you saw in the FIRST photo of this crop planting theme .

Very nice photo and a great informative note as well.
Farmers here in Greece do not have to face problems like that as the weather here is much calmer.
Anayway. Great shot. Thanks for sharing the view and the note!

Hi Derek
Nice note and the composition here works very well. The house in the back is a bonus.

Very interesting note and composition, Derek! I didn't know the snow melting could be that hard sometimes. The colour contrast you captured between blue sky, dark brown soil and white snow is wonderful. The red details on that machine make it even more vivid. Very well seen and presented!

Now there's something I don't see everyday! I like the bright colors you've captured here, and the nice diagonal slice through the field, with the cross slice road behind it. It's almost an advert for the tractor. ;o) Greetings from Sunny Florida,

I am fascinated by this high technology used to melt the snow and I was expecting a lot of mud on the 4 rear tires of the tractor.
This reminds me a familiar scene taken this fall in a near-by area at PontRouge, Québec
