Photographer's Note

Montreal is a city on an island in the St. Lawrence River. In the spring, the redwing blackbirds fly in in droves - they like to nest near the water. And of course a sure sign of spring is the dandelion, very unromantically called in French "pissenlit" (piss in bed!). Like the blackbirds and the dandelions, cyclists like me emerge in the spring, making use of the many riverside cycle paths. All three of us came together one sunny afternoon when I came across a flock of the redwings eating bugs among the dandelions. My 10 times zoom came in handy again.
