Photographer's Note

Photography for Beginners - PfB(5)
I picked up photography in high school days and continued to university days. This was shot in 1978 evening at Ontario Place after the visit to the annual event of Canadian National Exhibition.

I could not remember what camera or setting was used. But recently I found these Kodachrome color slides and finally today had this scanned. You could see how a beginner's photography looks like in this slide. The slide quality was bad but my photoraphy skill was not that hopeful either. In 1970s I read some photography books but was really not as quick to learn about photography as online reading and now TL. I checked today for my warranty card, it was only 1979 after graduation from university that I could afford to buy my SLR Olympus OM2 on my way from Singapore to London.

These days when I am a little disheartened about photography, I would dig out some old photos that I took and quickly slap myself back to reality that I had improved in my visual outlook and sharing photograhs and critiques are a good way to do so. So if you think that the photo did not earn enough smiley points, do not panic. Look at the number of views you get, if it is a high number, it means many people view your photo by at least catching their attention. And treat that as a good start. Remember, some really good photos might have been rated with few smileys. Cheers, bill

Sorry, no photo info. I am still recalling what point-shoot camera was used then, it could be borrowed one.

1978 summer would be my best ever because I bought a VW beetle for C$8000 to travel from East to West coast of Canada and back through USA from Seattle to Boston in 2 months with a friend, pitching tents and camping all over.
