Photographer's Note

Nawww. This photo was taken at the Metro Toronto Zoo.

Llamas are actualy really interesting animals. Llamas are originally from North America. Llamas are very social animals with a variety of personalities who can strongly interact with their environment. Llamas may hum, roll, spit, guard other animals, use the dung pile and more.

They have been plagued with the unfair reputation of spitting. It is true that they spit, but not under the conditions that most people imagine. The vast majority of llamas spit only at other llamas and not at people. Spitting is used by llamas to settle arguments and to establish dominance.

One interesting thing I found out while researching this animal was that the spit is very smelly to people and to llamas. A llama who has been spit on and sometimes the llama who did the spitting will hang their mouths open to express their dislike for the smell!

**Post Pro - I increased colour saturation slightly. I also had to recreate the bottom of the llama's chin as I took the photo a little too close. Then did autolevels, and added border.
