This little guy is called a Rainbow Lorikeet.
He was a very inquisitive animal, peeking around the tree to see what I was up to. Photo taken at the Toronto Zoo.

Lorikeets are pigeon-sized, stocky members of the parrot family. their legs are short and stocky; beaks are typically parrot-like, and their size and shape varying slightly with each genera.

They mainly live in mature tropical and subtropical wooded lowlands that offer food and nesting sites (rainforests, open eucalyptus woodland and occasionally mallee scrub), as they mainly eat friut, pollen and nectar.

a very nice pic ! you have perfectly captured vivid colors ! Some may regret the blurred trunk (?) on the left, but the background is really cool ! Looks like there's a jungle in Toronto !

Pretty colours! I think the NeatImage work in this one is a little strong though, it gives it a slightly unreal look. Very nice though :-)

Beautiful colors Pamela. Excellent DOF, you could maybe have chosen even less to focus even more on the birds head and intriguing eyes. He stroke a wonderful pose for you. I think the trunk in front is a little disturbing and overexposed, but it's worth it for the pose.

The lorikeet's pose is really good, and the bird's colours are most appealing. Although the blurred tree / ropes / cables(?) did not particularly bother me, I tried cropping to a square format which just excluded them and, for what its worth, decided that I did prefer it that way; the pose still works even with nothing visible for the bird to peer around. Either way, a good shot, Pamela.

A nice capture here. I think the colors and the pose of the bird make a nice photo. I also think the out of focus tree is distracting, but there was probably to much distance between them to get it all in. Nice job.
