Photographer's Note
Finally the season of spring, and into the grey dullness of the north blooms some of the brightest colours you have ever seen. This apple blossom - I believe it's actually a crab apple or small relative - is one of thousands bursting everywhere around this area of Ontario this month.
If you need to take a drive anywhere, just a stone's throw from the big cities around Lake Ontario is the Valley of Jordan, full of myriad fruit trees all in bloom at the same time this year, in all shades of white and pink. This is why people of the northern climates brag about their four full seasons! It just seems to have more of a punch, than when you have brightly coloured flowers all year.
Experimenting with the macro function of this new-to-me camera. Does very well in shade or sun, I think. This was in the shade. Though I think my focus point was a little off in this photo, I just really liked the fireworks effect of the bloom and buds.

I like this for the gorgeous colour, the composition and the nice shallow dof, Michelle. As you point out, the focus on the main flower is not quite right. I can understand that - I'm working with a new camera too:)

Hi Michelle,
A good POV of the flower of the carb apple tree, the photo has a good composition and nice colors.

Okay Michelle its time to get technical with your camera. The f3.6 has caused a very shallow depth of focus on this flower. You pointed the camera focus point on the tip of the blossum. The result was the center of the flower is blurred. If you don't have a tripod I highly suggest you get one. Then stop your f stop to around f20 plus and shoot. I am sure you will be really happy with the results. Its not that shallow depth of field is wrong or right...it simply produces different results. My latest posting is a very shallow depth of field, and the results you can see. Thanks for sharing..

Hey, very good experimenting! I like the way you have selected only one flower to be in focus. The rest of buds and leaves make for a good background. Just a little more depth of field would give you the whole flower nice and sharp. Maybe just one f-stop higher. Piece of art.

Good photo, I like the detail you can see on the right part of a flower, good work

Beautiful fruit tree flowers, that reminds me of my childhood, full of fruittrees. Nowadays (December) everything is grey, grey, grey, here in Sweden and I feel like a zombie, just having returned from another, hot part of the world.
Lovely picture and so sharp, although it is very close to the motif.
