Photographer's Note

A shot from way back when--not a stunner, but a fun little shot of daily life over 400 years ago. I liked this window in the fairly flat light of a rainy day in Port Royal, Nova Scotia. This nondescript place was the site of the first permanent French settlement on mainland North America, preceding by three years the English settlement at Jamestown, Virginia. The buildings now there are reconstructions, but extremely photogenic nonetheless.
