Photographer's Note

The streets of old St Johns are very picturesque, and the range of colours has to be seen to be believed!

St John's is famous for many things - apparently it's the oldest city in North America, with the earliest map showing its existence in 1519. Whilst it is rainiest/cloudiest/foggiest/snowiest and windiest of any Canadian city perhaps unsurprisingly it also has the highest number of bars per capita - so even if the weather prevents you from taking any pictures, at least you can console yourself by sinking a few pints with the friendly locals ;)

Most of modern St John's came into existence after the Great Fire of 1892 which laid waste to much of the old city.
