Photographer's Note

“Sleeping” is the name of this photograph and it was taken at a small community in the Irish Loop. Since the demise of the COD fishery, many boats are sleeping on the banks. Fortunately some fish can be caught such as, herring, capelin, and shellfish such as Lobster and crab.
The community is called Ferryland and this picture is of The Pool, a natural harbor for close to 500 years. Lord Baltimore helped establish this settlement. However the winters were far too harsh and he eventually wound up in Maryland.
If the cob fishery were open, this and many other boats would get little rest in the summer.
This photograph was slightly cropped, Sharpened in Lab Color U. S. M. 50,1,0, and saved for the web .
