Photographer's Note
Since everyone in Yemen leaves their shoes at the door, hotel guests are expected to do the same. It's a good idea since it tends to be either dusty or muddy outside (the latter in the rainy season), so if you keep your shoes on inside, you'll soon make a mess.
But then, of course, you can't very well go into the bathroom bare feet or in your socks: in a single room with shower (no curtain), toilet and (rarely) a bath, the floor is often wet. No problem: almost all hotels (even the simplest pension-style funduqs) will provide a pair of bath slippers.
This is the pair I found in front of my bathroom in our hotel in Al Mukalla.

Hi Marjolein,
funny shot ;-))) I guess somebody is getting angry about his two LEFT shoes ...
Compositionwise, I would like to see a bit more of the surroundings (floor, ...)
BTW: Are you a shoe-fetishist?? ;-)))
