Hatta Dam Lake, a photo from Dubai, West

Photographer's Note

Hatta is a town in the Hajar Mountains near the border of Oman. Traditionally it was the summer habitation of Dubai-based families escaping the heat and humidity of the coast. Hatta Dam was built in 1990's to supply the area with electricity and water. The dam lake is a popular spot for kayaking.

Hello Kari,
The blue, brown and emerald green layers of colour make for a photo with impact. Very sharp and well produced image. The boats looks so small compared with the jagged mountains.

A very unusual view from Dubai.
The large number of sharp rocks makes this a spectacular mountain range.
Many find their pleasure on the rare water on this peninsula. Lots of boats nicely spread over the lake.

Hello Kari,
A less known view from Dubai, very different from the famous skyscrapers but just as spectacular. I really like the contrast between the rough brown mountains and the romantic green lake with all these paddle boats. It's a fine photo with very good light and colours.

An excellent shot presenting this unique combination of water and rocky hills. Great colour match makes this image visually attractive. I would never expect such scape in UAE, looks like a hidden treasure. Have a nice weekend!

Hello Kari,

I probably flew over Dubai but did not see any freshwater, only the Persian Gulf. Amazing that the waters of this dam can survive the scorching 50c heat of summer. Tfs!
