Photographer's Note

Another photo of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. I probably took this photo at the wrong time of day - around midday when the sun was overhead and close to the top of the building. The building does seem to be reaching toward the sun from this angle. It's a monument to the remarkable properties of steel; we take it for granted, but no other affordable material could be used to build such a structure.

I used my hand to block out the main glare of the sun. Then in Photoshop I darkened the sky at the top of the photo to further cut out the glare and to emphasise the contrail.
