Photographer's Note

East of University City a distance of 15 kilometres, off the Al Dhaid Road to Al Masafi (the latter, home of bottled water) and opposite the Sharjah Desert Park to the north, stands the Sharjah Arab Cultural Capital Monument. Sharjah was awarded the title of Arab Cultural Capital in 1998 by UNESCO. The monument is in the middle of nowhere, so it seems, and entrance is via this gate - elevation 75 metres.
