Photographer's Note

My time machine brought me to another crowded street in Istanbul in 1974. Maybe you are getting tired of these photos just showing a lot of people, but I thought I might as well post this before I go somewhere else.

This is from the Eminönü area, somewhere between the Galata Bridge and the so called Egyptian Bazaar (Mısır Çarşısı), a large covered bazaar traditionally mainly selling spices. The entire area is full of crowded streets like this, lined with all kinds of shops, stalls and small restaurants.

Here is a larger version.

Two WS photos are less crowded, one showing a street in another old part of Istanbul, the other featuring a neat gentleman selling nuts.

In case you wonder, they were all scanned from Kodachrome slides.
