Photographer's Note

I am just home from southern Africa after spending about a month in 9 different African countries. Istanbul does not only serve as a gateway to Europe and Asia, but its airports are to many a perfect gateway to Africa. I was able to spend this day, July 4, in 3 totally different countries. It was a weird feeling sitting in a nightclub in Ethiopia looking back at a day I spend mostly in Turkey and started in Denmark!

Anyway, I couldn't just sit and wait at the airport for 7 hours. Of course I had to see the city when I was there. So I went to the city center and saw everything that's possible to see in 7 hours and came just in the nick of time for my flight to Ethiopia. Totally worth it! Istanbul is a wonderful city and very different from the typical European style that I'm used to. It was raining heavily for a bit, but luckily my reward came eventually. The bridge is connecting the "new" part of the city with the old, across the Golden Horn.

My next pictures will be from Africa.
