Photographer's Note

Kanlıdivane(Conytellis-Conytella)is an antic city of Mersin,Erdemli.The history of the city which was the holy location of the antic Olba Kingdom,dates back to 3BC.In 4AD the city,renamed as Neapolis,reached the highest point of its age.The Brzyantin emperor II.Theodosius(408-450)founded a holy christian center in this area.The city was built around a concave whose depth was 60m.According to the legend guilties were thrown into this concave which is a natural sediment area and they were eaten by wild animals .For this reason it is named 'Kanlıdivane' to this city.In the concave there exist reliefs of one woman and two men sitting on the sofa.
