Photographer's Note
In the background is the most easterly island of Greece, Kastellorizo, with its own airport on the plateau and direct links to Rhodes and Athens. The ancient theatre in the fg is the Hellenistic Antiphellos Theatre. From Lonely Planet"
"The small Hellenistic theatre, 500m west of Kaş' main square, could seat 4,000 spectators and is in good condition. It was built in the 1st century BC and restored 300 years later, probably after the great 141 AD earthquake. There's a good view of Kaş from the top tier of seating."
I have loaded a workshop showing the view described above.

The ancient theatre partially restored with new stones, but its location above the sea and the green grove makes a wonderful sight on picture, Chris.
One remark though: very notable the use of the polarizing filter - which I never use as it distorts colors upon the outcome.
Good evening,

Hello Chris,
A well composed photo of the ancient theatre, the olive grove, the blue sea and the flat Greek island in the distance. It's an unmistakable Mediterranean view with very strongly contrasting colours.
Best regards,

Hi Chris,
I don't think I have visited this one. I have one amphitheater photographed in Cyprus, I think which was near the sea but as close as this one. Very good composition -sometimes the old theatres are hard to photograph in an interesting way so the presence of the dark blue waters adds a lovely touch.
Excellent work,
M

Bonjour Chris,
La distance entre le théâtre et l'île crée de la profondeur. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails du théâtre antique. La lumière met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hi Chris,
Fantastic view of this big theatre in excellent condition. I guess some restauration has been done after the fourth century too. Beautiful sea view background. I wonder if the plays there have been during sunset time.

Hello Chris, a picture postcard that promotes the amphitheatre, especially with this spectacular view across the very blue sea towards the island.
The amphitheatre looks in amazing condition.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi dear Chris, How are you?
You seem to be so active as usual.
Your work also remains unchanged as high level as usual.
So eye-cathing and vivid color contrast of fresh blue and white!
Very reasonable proportion makes so stable composition.
All the best and have a good day! Takero from Tokyo

Hi Chris,
Great historic theater, well framed from a photogenic POV, the view of this blue horizon is a competition for the scene during shows, what a superb marine panorama, it is well presented!

Hello Chris,
Two splendid photographs of this wonderful amphitheatre!
It is in amazing condition and in such a spectacular setting!
The w/s shows the extent and condition of the amphitheatre but this one has more artistry, as if the theatre is opening its arms to reveal the beauty of the setting!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Chris By this outstanding view including the seascape, you pay a nice tribute to the wisdom of ancient engineers who conducted research for the natural transmission of sound! You have a good eye for spectacular captures and compliments for the high quality depiction.
Cheers

Hello Chris.
Very well preserved this Roman theater, wonderfully situated by the sea, the spectators dominated the scene and a great view of the blue sea.
Sharpness, lighting, color and magnificent composition; they are managed to perfection, in this beautiful image.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Chris,
I remember the view of the island seen from on top of the ancient theatre.
But I forgot it was a Greek island. This one is really very far located from the other Greek islands.
Do you know if Kastellorizo has a boat connection with Turkey?
Beautiful with the olive trees and others in the middle plan.
No other visitors in the theatre when you were there. Nor when I was there.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Chris,
A splendid view of the island from the the ancient theatre. Depth of field is great, and the composition works well, giving us the feeling of sitting right there on one of those hard seats.

Hi Chris
when I see these photos from Turkey, I regret only visiting Istanbul during my time here. But we had already booked Greece to go along with Turkey, so we had to make choices. Wonderful view in the WS as well, thats really attractive. amazing to have it still in this condition today. love it
cheers

such greek and roman theaters usually use the landscape around as a special extra element. lovely view with the curved repetition of the steps and the islet ahead.
take care

Hello Chris,
It looks like the amphitheater saw some reconstruction work. I wonder if they still hold performances here. I know they do in Aspendos.

MT
