Photographer's Note

This is inside the “Sabancı Merkez Camii” (Sabancı Central Mosque) in Adana which is one of the largest cities of Turkiye in economic perspective on the southern land. The mosque was built between 1988-1998 as being the biggest mosque in Turkiye (probably the biggest in the Middle East as well). Its main dome is 51 meters high and 32 meters in diameter. It can accomodate 20000 people inside and a total of 28000 people if the garden is used as well. It is built with classical Ottoman Architectural style. It looks like the famous Sultan Ahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque) of Istanbul for its silhouette but resembles that of the famous Selimiye Mosque of Edirne from the inside and as to its plan. It has 5 domes, 4 half-domes and 6 minarets (4 of them 99m high and 2 of them 75 m high). It is based on 6600 m2. Artists for inside works are Hüseyin Kutlu, Mimar Semih İrteş; Ali Turan Usta; Nihat Kartal; Necati Cebeci; A. Kadir Aydın Usta; Ahmet Yılçay Usta.
