New Fixture on Old Column, a photo from Kirklareli, Marmara

On the way out of Sokollu Mehmet Pasha Mosque, I had to stop and take a photo of this old column on which a light fixture had been placed. It reminded me of a lighthouse, vaguely.

Hello Murat,
The column is more curious than beautiful. I wonder what purpose it may have had. If you had taken two steps to the left it wouldn't have blocked the view of the şadırvan.

I wonder what the original purpose was for this column! It is serving a useful purpose now but seems a little incongruous with the visually attractive building occupying the b/g. But, like you, I think I would have had to take a photograph, too.

Hi Murat,3 very nice pics another time from the mosque, i like the courtyard and the exit door with the blue carpet that i seen in other recent post, the lamp on the column is nice but the wire is terrible, it was better to try a different solution...ehehe..have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

This photo would be better if you'd taken it with 5he post to one side of the ablutions building but nevertheless it is a good interesting photo.

Well it is a light house or maybe rather light stand. But I am more actually interested in the elaborate structure behind, I suppose it is a water fountain for ablution before entering the mosque.

Hello Murat,

If you moved a bit to the left, you would have a view of the fountain. This column is disturbing the composition. I wonder what was its use before installing the lamp.
