Photographer's Note
An expansive view of Istanbul looking south from the 236 mete high observation deck of the Sapphire Tower in 4 Levent District, on the European side, & which has its own metro station. In the fg is Zincirlikuyu Islamic Cemetery and gardens. Top right is Sultanahmet. I can just see the minarets of the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. In the bg centre is the Sea of Marmara and 2 of the Princes Islands.

Hello Chris,
It's interesting to see the cemetery like a large green island in the sea of buildings, and the Bosphorus beyond it. I recently read for the second time Orhan Pamuk's autobiographical book called 'Istanbul – Memories of a city', very interesting for anyone who has spent some time there.
Best regards,
Gert

Bonjour Chris,
L'étendue de la ville crée de la profondeur. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des gratte-ciel et des immeubles. La lumière rehausse les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hi Chris
The eye popping green garden-cemetery really draws the eyes with the distant haze adds a nice overall effect of the skyline. Nice capture despite the challenging light. Excellent shot

Hello Chris,
A great photo from a fantastic vantage point to see the huge city with lots of towers among the lower houses. Also that green hill makes a great appearance in the foreground.

Hello Chris,
This is an unfamiliar view of Istanbul, with no sharply detailed mosques!
From your elevated viewpoint, we get an amazing, birds’-eye view of the city and can appreciate the number of modern skyscrapers.
The cemetery looks like an oasis, or a park, surrounded by the urban sprawl.
My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Hi Chris
Development in Istanbul must have cranked up after my visit in 1998. The large view is great and, yes, you can see the minarets of Sultanahmet. A good wide view of the city.
cheers

Interesantan i lep pogled, dobar tekst ...

Hi Chris,
very impressive panoramic view of the modern part of the city.
It would be hard to spot the minarets far in the distance without you giving us the orientation first.
It is nice to see this area of the town as well although of course the old town is probably of main interest for a tourist.
Great reportage,
M

Hello Chris,
I never saw Istanbul from that viewpoint and find it difficult to orientate myself in this photo.
I see the domes and minarets of the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. I think I even see a tower of the Topkapi Palace.
The Golden Horn must therefore be just in front of this part of Istanbul.
But I have no idea what the waterway in the left of the picture is. Between the Bosphorus and the modern part of the city where you were, we still see water where a ship is sailing out. No idea what this is...
Best regards, Paul

the view is different of those we are used to see from this famous city. I could see the famous mosques because your note, they are so distant from this POV. nice photo.
take care

Hello Chris
You show an outstanding pamorama of Istanbul captured with great care to avoid lens distortion; is it due to post-processing magic or to the use of a long lens!
You tamed most of the hazed overcast by means of the polarizing filter for brighter colors and cleaner contrast and I wonder, even thought I never tried, what could have happened if you had screwed an haze filter under the polarizer.
Very spectacular informative capture.
Cheers

Hello Chris,
Yes, I remember this view. Now, the new fad is the Çamlıca Tower. It is visible from almost every location in the city.

MT
