This is the last piece of the series...


I took this shot in 1988, the year I seriously got involved with b&w photography.

The location this shot was taken is Eyup, a neighborhood of Istanbul, known for its religious history and the presence of the tombs of some Muslim saints. People come here to make wishes, to donate or to make sacrifices, but mostly to pray.

Everything there seems to have stayed the same thru centuries, and I wonder whether there would be any serious differences if I shoot from the same angle today, 23 years after the original shot.

The guy at the table was selling CDs, with a cup of tea on the table, while sitting the traditional way on the chair, on his bent right leg.

Scanned from analog, cropped, increased contrast.
