Photographer's Note
As I was getting closer to Eminönü, I took a shot of Yeni Cami (the New Mosque). I believe there are not many photos of Yeni Cami from this angle.
The construction of the mosque began in 1597. It was ordered by Sultana Safiye, who was the wife of Sultan Murat III and later Valide Sultan (Queen Mother) of Sultan Mehmet III. She ordered the mosque in her capacity as Valide Sultan, two years after Mehmed III's ascension to the Ottoman throne in 1595, hence the original formal name "Valide Sultan Mosque". Sultana Safiye was forced to abandon the project upon Mehmet III's death in 1603. The new Sultan, Ahmet I, had no interest in pursuing the project after Sultana Safiye was relegated to the harem and the construction was abandoned. After 1603, the partially constructed structure gradually fell into ruins; and was severely damaged during the Great Fire of Istanbul (1660). Later that year, the imperial architect Mustafa Ağa suggested that Sultana Turhan Hatice, mother of Sultan Mehmet IV, should complete the project as a work of piety. Sultana Turhan Hatice also ordered the construction of the nearby Spice Bazaar, which forms a part of the külliye of the New Mosque. Thus, in the last months of 1660, the construction of the mosque was resumed, while the construction of the adjacent bazaar began. The mosque was finally completed in 1663, and inaugurated in 1665. It was renamed the "New Valide Sultan Mosque" (Yeni Valide Sultan Camii). In time, this name was informally shortened as the "New Mosque" (Yeni Cami) among the public.
Yeni Cami
Sultan III. Murat'ın eşi ve sonra Sultan III. Mehmet'in Valide Sultanı (Ana Kraliçesi) Sultana Safiye tarafından emredilmiştir. III. Mehmet 'in 1595 yılında Osmanlı tahtına yükselişinden iki yıl sonra Valide Sultan olarak caminin yapılmasını emretti, dolayısıyla orijinal resmi adı Valide Sultan Camii idi. Sultana Safiye, III. Mehmet'in 1603'te ölümü üzerine projeyi terk etmeye zorlandı.

Hello Murat,
From a fair distance, you managed to include much more than the mosque, street action with the colors of the bus and cars, movement of the people - which are crossing the road and not walk on the pavement, and the prominent minarets dominating the skyline.
I'd tend more on a "daily-life|" depiction, but "Architecture" also fir well.
Have a nice holiday weekend,
Ike

Hello Murat,
The large mosque looks fantastic here in this lovely sunlight. The foreground adds a great impression of daily life too with the people, the bus and taxi and the large billboard. Very well captured with great sharpness.

Hello Murat,
You are probably right about the unusual angle. Most photos of this fine mosque seem to be taken from the bridge. I always appreciate new approaches. Maybe some would find the bus and cars disturbing the view, but I don't mind them. They are all parts of the dynamic city. It's a nicely balanced composition and the colors are crisp and natural.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Murat,
I remember going past this new mosque looking for the Rüstempaşa Camii which looks similar from the outside but has a much more impressive interior. The billboard, bus and taxi contrast well with the much older mosque. Tfs!

Hi Murat
Magnificent architecture and typically Ottoman - beauty of design is way above normal standards. You presented this well so it looks it's best under the blue sky.
The people in the scene give it scale and depth. Nicely done capture, Congrats
Best wishes

Hello Murat, Nice view of the New Mosque from this side. I do not remember if it has been already shown like this. How funny, the OLD buildings in America or Australia are 200 years old, this 400 years old mosque is new. How relative all is.
