Photographer's Note
There was a sheer drop of 100 metres on the left so I was more concerned with my footing than whether the man gazing out at Lake Van was exactly in the right angle and position. Somehow I managed to get the horizon reasonably straight. Lake Van is a large lake in south eastern Turkey and was formerly Armenian territory. And before that Urartian. I hope the track out to the small pinnacle at left was a goat or sheep venturing out. It looks far too narrow & dangerous for people. Van Castle and City is in the south eastern part of the lake. The castle is behind me here.

Hello Chris,
I saw this view (minus seated man) in 1971. I still remember that I had to be very careful when finding my way down. There's a nice contrast between the green fields and the strangely cyan coloured lake.

Gert

Bonjour Chris,
La distance entre le château et les montagnes en arrière-plan donne de la profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des ruines d'une partie du château Van. La lumière donne un bon rendu aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
This photograph makes quite an impact!
The f/g looks high and dangerous, yet there is a figure nonchalantly gazing out to the sea!
By contrast, the b/g looks idyllic: flat, beautiful tones, like a storybook place!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
Well done you for capturing such a shot safely!

Hi Chris
A superb one with its different layers - the unusually shaped rock, the verdant green back by the lake and distant hills. The person on the right helps add scale.
cheers

Hello Chris, the man provides us with a sense of the scale of the foreground features; not the easiest of terrains to walk on!
The view is quite special with the lake and the mountains seen in pastel colours.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.
