Photographer's Note

I briefly met this elderly gentleman during a visit last September to the Turkish World Heritage city of Safranbolu. I asked him for permission to take a picture and he kindly obliged. I was pleased with his relaxed attitude to posing.

I will post two more photos of people living in this world heritage as workshops.

Safranbolu in northern Anatolia, a few hours' journey from the Black Sea, is a medieval city which for hundreds of years was an important trading place for caravans between Europe and Central Asia.

Now I have posted 800 photos on TE since joining this site in 2007. I have seen many others coming and going during this time. How long I will stick around is hard to tell. Sometimes I get fed up, especially when there are childish quarrels about ridiculous matters, but most of the time I enjoy the feedback from nice people all over the world. I find it exciting that my photos are seen by hundreds, sometimes thousands of persons from Australia to Iceland, from Brazil to Japan. A large part of the pictures I have shown here were scans of old slides. Before Trekearth only a handful of family members and friends had ever seen them.
