Photographer's Note
Legend has it that Cleopatra and Mark Antony once swam here. I am surprised I have not uploaded any shots before, only 4 of the travertine terraces. They would have sailed from Alexandria to Ephesus and then headed east to the ancient city of Hierapolis, now in ruins. The temperature is a constant 37c, but the day I was there it was 37c air temperature in mid summer plus it was rather expensive to swim here at 37 Turkish lira, although entry was free to look around. I saved all my swimming for the Mediterranean. Here and there in the water are pieces of the ruined Roman Temple of Apollo, which once surrounded and enclosed the geothermal spa.

Wonder what makes people put ruins from ancient temple in a pool, Chris. But admit the sight & color of the water is attractive, looks amazing.
Good evening,

Bonjour Chris,
L'endroit est impressionnant. La présence des personnes anime la scène. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de la piscine de Cléopâtre et des personnes qui en profitent. La lumière met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
Among my souvenirs I have a Turkish bank note of 5 million lira. I don't remember what it could buy me, maybe a beer, maybe actually a bit more, but in that perspective 37 TL sounds cheap.
It's a strange pool, and looking at the crowd I would probably also have saved swimming to somewhere else. The colours seem a bit strong. Maybe there is slightly too much yellow?
Regards,
Gert

Hello Chris, an interesting tale about Cleopatra and Mark Antony swimming here, how can we prove that they actually did or didn't?
Reading about the temperatures, it probably felt refreshing swimming in the pool.
I like the sunlight creating patterns in the water.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Chris,
A nice view of this ancient pool, where many people still were enjoying the clear water and the fine weather. I like seeing the ancient ruins underwater as well and the many (palm) trees make a good backdrop.

Hello Chris, It is not the only place that Cleopatra and Mark Anthony took the bath. Cleopatra lived between 69-30 B.C. in Antalya. She is said to have sunbathed on the beach’s golden sands and to have swum in its crystal blue waters.
And I suppose that in this pool also Emka swam many years ago. Nice photo.
Best regards MAlgo

Hello Chris,
Swimming in a pool with pieces of an ancient Roman temple, sounds gorgeous. But it is a strange way of dealing with the archaeological heritage.
It looks like a very attractive place.
Well composed, good perspective and sharpness.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Chris,
This is an interesting view; there are pieces from antiquity under the water, and a smiling girl in a bikini posing for the camera. :-) The woman on the right side also seems to be doing some kind of water exercise! I like the color of the water, and the palm trees in the background. Take care!
